Mme. Jennifer D'Angelo
Strings & Vocal
email: [email protected]
Mme D'Angelo is excited to be joining the Music department after 5 years of cheering on their great performances and fun events from her nook in the Modern's department (secretly hoping she'd get to join in the fun!). Mme D'Angelo studied Music and French at U of T Scarborough, and received her B.Ed from U of T. Every year, she looked forward to singing with the Concert Choir and other community choirs, and was really honoured in her 3rd year when she was chosen as the lead and vocal coach for UTSC's first musical "I am a star!". While at U of T, Mme D'Angelo was invited to join the Golden Key Honours Society ( exclusively for top 10% in program), received the Norman F Brown Memorial Award for academic achievement, was the recipient for the OMEA (Music educators) pre-service scholarship. She was also nominated by her professors for the McGraw-Hill leadership scholarship, as well as the Music Leadership prize. Mme has always loved music, and was sad to leave teaching at Arcadia Academy of Music after almost 10 years, but is so glad to continue her love of learning and teaching Music with such a fantastic department here at Trudeau! Last year, Mme D'Angelo was very honoured and humbled to be nominated for the Toronto Star Teaching Award by her students.
This year, Mme is teaching repertoire choir and co-teaching Junior Strings with Mr Rawlins. She looks forward to sharing all the wonderful Music memes to her already huge French meme collection on twitter with the help of her two puppy dogs: Auzzy and Teddy.

Ms. Laurie Thomas
Musical Theatre & Technology Lab
e-mail: [email protected]
Ms. Thomas has been teaching at Pierre Elliott Trudeau High School since its opening in 2002 and with the YRDSB since 1996. She obtained her honours music degree from McMaster University, with a focus on vocal music, and her Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto.
It is no wonder Ms. Thomas’s career took a turn in the music direction. Her father played in a rock and roll band while she was growing up and her mother could play anything on the piano…all by ear!!! She composed her first piece of vocal music at the age of 5, titled “The Rocky River”. It was a family favourite until her second composition titled “Pickles, Dill Pickles” hit the Thomas family charts!
Ms. Thomas put her composition career on hold to try her hand at choral singing. She joined the church choir and spent some time over her summers attending the Toronto Diocesan Girls’ Choir School. Over the years she has been a featured soloist in various concerts with the York Festival Singers and has also performed with a small group of vocalists on CBC radio.
Ms. Thomas currently spends a lot of her free time performing and working on the artistic team in musical theatre productions. It is one of her favourite pastimes and she is happy to be able to share this wonderful experience with the students in her musical theatre class.
Ms. Thomas would like to thank the students and staff in the music department for the many wonderful experiences and memories.
